An dieser Stelle ausnahmsweise mal kein Video von Dr. Doom, Prof. Nouriel Roubini, sondern ein kurzes Zitat aus seinem aktuellem Artikel bei RGE Global EconoMonitor "Nationalize the Banks! We´re all Swedes Now!", der leider nicht frei verfügbar ist (in der Regel wird Roubini aber bei naked capitalism mit etwas Verzögerung ausgiebig zitiert; Nachtrag: Link zur WaPo). Zu den aktuellen Bemühungen des US Finanzministers Geithner merkt er an, dass sie zwar grundsätzlich in die richtige Richtung weisen würden, dass es aber mittlerweile wohl zu spät für sie sei. Die Verluste der amerikanischen Banken werden sich auf 1,8 Billionen Dollar belaufen, so dass das Hilfspaket von insgesamt 1,4 Billionen Dollar nicht ausreichen wird. Er schlägt daher erneut die Verstaatlichung vor (Nationalization aka Receivership).

Kernaussage von Roubini:

Nationalization is the only option that would permit us to solve the problem of toxic assets in an orderly fashion and allow lending finally to resume. Of course, the economy would still stink, but the death spiral we are in would stop.

Bottom Line:

Basically, we're all Swedes now. We have used all our bullets, and the boogeyman is still coming. Let's pull out the bazooka and be done with it.
